Default Kaspersky

In my 4 day experience with Kaspersky, the proactive defence stopped everything.

I got tired of dealing with all the issues that I uninstalled it and went to the separate module system as recommended on the forum:

Anti-Virus....................Avast
Firewall......................Comodo
Spyware.......................Spy sweeper and Windows Defender
Spam..........................SpamBayes

and this is as good as it is going to get.....not perfect as far as the firewall but I can vouch for the other programs working fine without slowing down the machine.

Regards

Elliot

Well I can agree with Avast.

For me, it is the best anti virus I have tried.

From point of detection rate Kaspersky is leading AV software. Many independent test show that Kaspersky is one of the best. However i personally use F-secure that have Kaspersky engine + 2 extra engines and did excellent job.

I use AVG and think it's a good piece of AntiVirus software.

Not yet tried Avast but read a lot about it, so may give it a try.

F-Secure is not bad either.

Independent Test? I'd like to see these results. I wouldn't put much stock in it though. Either the program has a definition for the virus or it doesn't. Virus detection is a service-oriented industry. I'd think a better test would be to see who comes out with virus defs updates the quickest. :-P

Default Re: Kaspersky

We have tested AVG and AVAST against the same threats and AVG came out tops.

However we could not complete our tests for Kaspersky at that specific stage (about a year ago). Kaspersky has improved since our last test and we are in the process of testing it again. From what we have seen so far, we can certainly say that Kaspersky is a good option to consider when it comes to choosing Anti-virus and Anti-spyware protection for your PC.

Grisoft, the makers of AVG, has show great commitment and great success against the fight against malware, especially if you take into account how effective their free versions are. AVG Free Edition is in several cases much better, more secure and provides better protection than several other well known commercial packages.

The best anti-spyware solution in our books is AVG Anti-Spyware.

You can read our take on these applications on the following pages:
avast! 4.7 Home Edition Review
AVG Anti-virus Free Edition Version 7.5.432 Review
AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5.0.50 Review
