Default More spam. They are everywhere.

I have some fairly open email boxes. I got an email from www dot inklineglobal dot com.

Look at the web site. A fairly good site. But the way the email was written, contact info, name and telephone I categorized it as spam. When in doubt, I start by checking the web site through DNSstuff and got the following message on IP lookup.

"Unfortunately, this domain is registered through Network Solutions, the worst registrar (as far as WHOIS is concerned). They do not support WHOIS lookups from nearly ad-free sites like ours (because of the volume of hits from us), and try to force users of our site to use their ad-laden site".

That is more than enough for me. I closed the site and got the following message in a pop up window.

"Download An Extra TV Into Your PC"

or was it an extra virus?

As usual, I have some questions:

1. Do any of your know something more about the company than that it is based in Singapore?

2. What do you know of Network Solutions? I get the same message when testing sites from other spam emails.

Hey kgun,

Stop your catchall, talk to you host and get dedicated email addresses.

Keep your public ones open, business side of things, but reserve your private addresses for people you deal with.

I would also report Network Solutions to the relevant people if they are not doing anything about the spam as most hosting now have antivirus and spam filters for email. (Its worked great for me, I think about 95% > of the crap is filtered before it gets to my inbox)

Basically, block them if no good.

WHOIS is nominet, if not chase it up to make sure the registration is right, or report it to them.

Default Network solutions

Network Solutions? I had the worst nightmare with the company! The pain started the moment I decided to move my domain to another company. Every time I tried to cancel my services with them, they charged me a $ 25 dollars fee, and there was no way to get anybody to help me resolve the problem.

Then I was hit with an $800 bill for the 32 times I tried to terminate my business with them. I think that they are rather dishonest in the way they deal with their customers. I would try to avoid them the way I avoid leprosy. It took me several months to recover my money, and I had to threaten them with a lawsuit. My advice to you is: Avoid them like the plague!

Guys

I came accross a simple way of 'warning off' email harversters. Create a new email addy, something called something generic like contact@yourdomain.com and hide it away in your code. Email scraping software will pick it up and the autoreply you have on that box will surely have a stern warning to potensial spammers. Gives you some more backing if you ever need to take them to task...
