Default Microsoft spam crusade takes on hosting

Microsoft just lunched 9 new spam law suites bringing it’s count up to 100 law suits against spammers 70 of witch are against us companies. Of the 9 law suites Microsoft just lunched one is against a hosting firm that offers “bullet proof” hosting for spammers their server is located in china.

This hosting lawsuit is the first of it’s kind, if successful it will open the door to hosting liability for spammers and be major progress in the war against spam.

Do you have any reference links on these suits, ghg?

I am particularly interested in the Chinese suit. It will be interesting to see how they can handle this when the hosting companies are in other Countries, particularly China.

Default Surprise with Microsoft

I is funny that Microsoft is going against spammers, when they are selling illegally obtained email lists.

Has anyone got an email that is from LISTBUILDER???

Well, surprise, that is MICROSOFT.

not much information has surfaced yet when it does I will post what I find.

An interesting FAQ from the charged company.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What are your rules?
Your site or email promoting you site cannot contain Scam or Anti-China content. All emails must contain a working removal link.
We require you to act legally and ethically in the running of your sites and the sending of your email. Unethical schemes (scams, illegitimate offers, etc) will not be tolerated.

2. Where are your servers based?
China.

3. What operating system do your servers use?
Red Hat Linux 9.0 and Windows server 2000

4. Is there a limit on the amount of email I can send?
No.

5. Can I send bulk email from the server?
No. You may under no circumstances send bulk mail using the server. It is provided only for hosting, not sending.

6. How come your prices are so low?
Most "bulletproof" hosts are made to jump between connectivity providers and countries very frequently to avoid being shut down. In comparison, we are allowed by our upstream to operate freely and openly. This makes our operation simple and reliable.

7. Can I get a discount on multiple accounts?
Sorry, we cannot offer discounts at the moment. Our pricing is already extremely competitive.

8. How can you ensure my site will not get shut down?
Our ISP allows us and our customers to send bulk email. They will never shut us down due to complaints. Most other so-called "bulletproof" hosting providers cannot guarantee this.

Sounds like a Standard No-Compete clause to me. ;-)
