Default New Scam??

This content of the following email is new to me. I assume that the object is to get people to pay to register multiple domains to protect their domain names and keywords.

"August 14, 2008

Tree Treasures

Domain name & Internet keyword

Dear sir/madam,

We are (name deleted) Company Limited which is the domain name register center in Asia. We received a formal application from a company who is applying to register “treetreasurescanada” as their domain name and Internet keyword on August 13, 2008.Since after our investigation we found that this word has been in use by your company, and this may involve your company name or trade mark, so we inform you in no time. If you consider these domain names and internet keyword are important to you and it is necessary to protect them by registering them first, contact us soon. Thanks for your co-operation and support.

Kind Regards,"

Thoughts anyone?

I think they're just trying to sell you domain names related to yours.

So yes, I think it's a scam.

This one's been around for a long while with variations. Used to be mostly org/net offers (warnings!) if you had a dot-com, now of course it's quite a large number. I'd hate to lose treetreasurescanada.va - you know how much the Pope treasures trees!

Yup, I've actually received some spam very similar to this. I would disregard it as trash... just a company trying to make a quick buck. (definitely a funny domain name though)
