A what point do you start to make a decent living?
I've just started down a long and arduous path to creating an interactive travel discussion/sharing site centered around mapping and Google Earth technology. The cash outlay is going to be substantial but I believe the core idea has big potential.
While earning a living off of advertising revenue is not necessarily the end-game for this business, I'd like to obviously stay in the green somewhat and cover the costs of the business as the number of visitors grows.
I'm curious to know- out of all you web masters out there - what kind of correlation do you find between # of monthly visitors and earnings?
If everyone could state:
1. Type of website
2. Method of monetization
3. Number of Monthly Visitors
4. Monthly Earnings
5. Monthly Net (earnings-bandwidth or other hosting costs)
I think it would be a very interesting survey.
