Default FireFox 2

I installed FireFox 2 on my work PC, and it's working great. I'm not certain I like it any better than the old FireFox, but then I haven't really had a whole lot of time to explore it's features in depth yet.

However, I tried to install it at home last night, and something went bizarrely wrong... all of my bookmarks vanished, and tabbed browsing doesn't work... I can open new tabs, but have been unable to load any content in them... any sites I try to link to in a second, third, or even fourth tab just replaces the content of the first tab and the additional tabs remain blank.

I suppose I'd better roll back my system and try reinstalling it. Has anybody else experienced installation issues with the new FireFox, then?

I have the same problem with my home computer. It works fine at the office. I'm going to try to uninstall any extensions that are not installed on my office pc and see if that has any effect.

If anyone knows the cause of this please let us know.

Default Reinstallation Fixed It

Well, I did uninstall FireFox and then reinstalled from scratch. The second time it "took" and now I've got FireFox 2 working just fine at home. And my vanished bookmarks, which I was afraid had been annihilated, reappeared, so I'm happy.

Now, the first time I installed it, I just ran the installation over top of my FireFox 1.5.whatever. I also installed a couple add-ons, which I've not tried to install again, so the snafu may have had something to do with either of those things. But your guess is as good as mine.

Anyone know what major differences there are between v1.5 and v2? I'm eager to install this to test what my pages will look like in v2, but not at the expense of 1.5 users.

Another way, anyone seen a reliable way to run both versions side by side?

Never mind the previous post.I now have both versions of firefox available on my system, although I can't run both at the same time.

Don't have the original page bookmarked, however do a google search for 'Firefox Portable'. Should give you all the info you need.
