Default Does anybody know this hoster and what to do?

I use iP01 dot net as a hoster for MultiFinaceIT, my largest site. I have had so many problems with them, that it has costed me a lot of extra work and money (changing hoster etc.).

It seems that they have a very good overview of global domain registration, since when I register a new domain, I get an email from them about 6 months free hosting if I choose them.

I registered, PercentileBands through them, but has only had problems with them in that regards.

1. I have made a request to move registration to my Norwegian registrar, but they does not implement the change. They send me emails for example this:

***************************************

Hi Kjell Gunnar Bleivik,

Thank you for contacting us.

It could be appreciated if you could provide us the reason why
you would like to change domain registrar. This is just a friendly
question in order for us to improve ourselves. It wont affect your
decision of transfering your domain names.

Thank you.

********************************************

Hi Kjell Gunnar Bleivik,

We would like to inform you that the domain name has been unlocked just
recently. Kindly allow another 24 hours before the information has been
updated in the whois query. Thank you.

*********************************************

Now, I am changing hoster to Denmark (have they even figured out that too?), and today I got an email from iP01 about Web Hosting Account Renewal Notice - multifinanceit.com. The account expires 2006-09-21 08:30:05 GMT.

My answer:

*********************************************

"1. You know the problems I have had regards changing registrar for PercentileBands.com . I have documentation. That is not solved, and nearly daily, my Norwegian hoster send an email that PercentileBands is still not removed.

2. I willl not renew my hosting by you when that time expieres in some months.

Best regards

Kjell Bleivik"

**************************************

May be there is a third party involved.

PercentileBands shall explain a method in finance (where I have education on the Dr. level) that I have developed myself etc.

What would you have done, since it seems impossible to contact them by email to move registration for the domain to my Norwegian hoster. I had no problem moving registration from Imhosted.com to my Norwegian registrar with ForumNorway

Now, I need all your assistence WPW members.

Domain name Transfers are always a pain in the rear! I had one company say they couldn't do it because they need a letter written to me from the Web sites owner (again me), giving me permission to do so. Sometimes there's fees involved and it always takes time.

Sometimes a hosting company sucks so bad that you gotta do it. Good for you for moving instead of just staying there and taking it like they expected!

I have changed hoster once before. No problem. Done in less than 48 hours.

Now I have four hosters, and shall delete this one. I have given them so many chances to fix the problem with changing registrar. My Norwegian registrar has vitnessed how problematic the company is.

When I search on Google with these KW's

ip01 dot net problems

I get this first hit on the SERP:

http://publicobject.com/

that says:

"Don't buy from ip01 dot net, they're spammers!
Shortly after registering a domain, I got an unsolicited email from ip01 dot net, offering to host my domain with them.

Unsolicited commercial email is spam, and ip01.net is a spammer!

Avoid doing business with ip01 dot net".

some people will argue that cost is a problem, they will tell you that "this is what you get when you go for cheap hosting and domains"

I assure you that this is not the case, some of the best hosting companies have had their fare share of troubles.

I have had problems myself, I solved them by just getting a reseller account from a host and have stayed with them for about 2 years.

Previously, hosting and domains was a yearly expense for me, but since i am also selling hosting to my clients, i have turned an expense into an income. now my hosting and domain are free.

Sometimes still there are un-avoidable problems and down-times and we just have to face them.

But the problems are solved quickly so there is always damage control.

May be I should choose a dedicated server hosting the next time. But the problem is that every site in my collection get the same IP address. Today I have 4 hosters.

DomeneShop : My Norwegian hoster and "registrar." The best. Excellent service, but expensive.

web10 : Danish hoster. New, but good so long.

ImHosted : Cheap and good foreign hoster so long.

iP01 : Stabile hosting, but bad service.

Hostean : Eliminated.

Two DDos attacks where only I was blocked on the first (why?).

Second attack more advanced. FTP of code seemingly OK, but the change did not take place on my site.

No problem to make such an "attack". Place a server between the client (me) and the webserver where the site is hosted. Did they do it or was there an attack? I deleted them without contacting them before months after my site was moved to my Norwegian hoster.

Conclusion:
I was aware of the fact that by choosing a cheap hoster, I run a risk. But I wanted to see this in practice. I wanted to see how reliable hosting was on the internet.

Definitely, you get what you pay for and choosing a cheap hoster, can be an expensive (in time and money cost) experience. Lost time and foccus and frustration have been much worse than moeny cost. And it is not over with iP01. They consequently deny to move PercentileBands to my Norwegian registrar. I have finished financial methods (Excel spreadSheets), but will not develope that domain, my profession, before the problem is solved. Financial methods may be big business. I made a lot for the Norwegian Ministry of Finance, The Central Bank of Norway and the Central Bureau of Statistics. Some of them was distributed globally through TROLL (Time Sahring OnLine Library), now INTEX.

Do iP01 or a third party want to steal the domain name? What other reason do you think there could be for not moving it? I do not lie when I say that about 50 - fifty - emails have been sent in that connection. I have given them or a third party an offer to buy the domain for USD 1 million, a price that is not negotiable. You need to know the method to know why. For security reasons, if it is stolen, I have also required BandTrading.com, but that is not the same foccused name. They have delayed my developement of PercenTileBands with about a year or more.

1. Use one reliable registrar where you have the DNS (name) services.

2. If you use a cheap hoster, look for recommendations.

After I had chosen ImHosted, I saw a positive post about them on the phpBB forum.

There is only one way to make hosting more reliable. Write about your experience like I have done in this post. I am very patient, and I do not like to write negative about a company, but what I have written above is nothing compared to the problems the two hosters have made for me.

Thank you for your comment David.

If any of you use the links on MultiFinanceIT, the movement of the site to Denmark has started.

1. www.skupot.com is live. Do not look at the errors on the page yet.

Did you note my argument for cloacking?

Now, Skupot.com is not a cloacked but a real site. That site will more and more take the role for MultiFinanceIt, and the second step in developing MultiFinanceIT will be implemented. It will be implemented as a minimalistic site with more foccus on finance. Financial content will be increased.

2. The next step is to move MultiFinanceIT to my Norwegian hoster that luckily, has the DNS services of that domain.

3. Then only one problem remains, moving the registration of PercentileBands. That can be a real problem. Communication with iP01 is now dead. As my father used to say, it is more meaningful to communicate with a stone in your garden.

He had a lot of good slogans. Another was:

"I believe more in the neighbour's cat than in them."

I described the DDos attack in this post.

You cannot possibly stop a DOS attack. You can only throw bandwidth at it, this is what online gambling websites do. They can afford to buy this expensive solution but we cannot afford it.

They host their websites on servers which have multiple connnections to internet backbones so their servers are able to withstand DOS attacks and still function under attack.

The least we can do is to move to a host which has more bandwidth at its disposal so a DOS attack is not able to create bottlenecks in the network.

Default Born yesterday?

Today I got a message signed Jenneifer

Hi Kjell Gunnar Bleivik,

Thank you for contacting us.

Do you mean that you wish to transfer your domain name "PercentileBands.com" to another provider?

Please do confirm with us as soon as possible, so that we can do necessary.

Thank you.

................................................

Jennifer is the same person that signed the two emails mentioned in my first post above.

.................................................

Do you think that they understand that the ground is burning under them?

Please giver your comments and examples of your own bad experiences.

Let hosters know what good service is and what customer ignorance is.

I have a very strong feeling that there is a third party involved. And I think I know who it is, if that assumption is correct.

The road is made while walking.

1. I have backup on another server of the site.

2. Skupot will be developed as a unique site. Pleas give your comments to that site here.
