Default Another one bites the dust?

MySpace filters out Flash for security reasons.

This is actually an economic move by MySpace. They are stripping down the free pages to make their offering of paid premium services early next year more attractive.

Embedded Flash files pose no security risk as the Flash player has strong security measures built in.

The real problem with Flash for MySpace is the fact that they can link away from MySpace and their advertisers. The next thing to go on free accounts will be the "a href=" tag.

This is all part of the evolution of MySpace from internet networking community to corporate money machine.

The extreme popularity of MySpace over other social networks like Friendster was the fact that an indivudual could truely customize "their space" and express themselves with much more creative freedom.

You may think I'm biased in my opinion because I run a site that provides Flash widgets for MySpace pages, but these widgets are being used on many other site, services, and blogs. So, yes this move will take a bite out of my site, but we anticipated this move and already have other areas under development to counter this loss. The timeline just got move up a bit. No sleep for me over the few weeks.

MySpace began allowing Flash again. Glad I was wrong.

hmmmmm ... MySpace huh?

I took a look at http://www.myspace.com mtheory.

Hard to tell what it is about other than a cutsie way to meet people online.

Is it anything like RYZE for networking? You can actually build an HTML page there and have your own forum. Not sure about Flash but then I don't know that Flash would be all that beneficial in that community.

Curious about your opinion of the difference between the 2.

If MySpace might have some networking upside I'm missing, lemme know .....

Thanks.
