Default World Wide Web Statistics

Where is a good source of general web statistics? I am trying to find the following general information about websites in general:

Average loading time on a dialup connection
Average page views per visit
Average time spent on a webpage

I want to use these general statistics to see how my sites compare.

Thanks,

Rich

Ok, let's try another question.

One of my sites gets about 1500 visitors today. One our of every 630 visitors converts to a sale. It this a high or low conversion rate on average?

Where do I find this data?

Thanks,

Rich

I reckon that's about average or a tad under for an ecommerce site selling competively-priced / unique items in the $10 - $50 range. Maybe 1 sale in 500 visits is about average IMHO

It sounds low to me.
What are you selling? Can you show the site?

Hi Rich.

That's a nice site!

The first thing I notice is you aren't collecting their email addresses. I'd put a sign-up form on the front page immediately and offer some kind of incentive to sign up. With the traffic figures you mentioned you should be growing a huge email list of subscribers who you can direct back to your site again and again for years to come. Send out "members only" special offers and coupons regularly and build a relationship with your subscribers so they know you and trust you.

I recommend an email service such as www.aweber.com or www.emailaces.com Both are less than $20 per mth.

Also add an "Add to favorites" link and a "Tell a friend" link. You could even add a short audio introduction.

All of these things are very simple to do and will increase the number of returning visitors and therefore your sales conversion rate.

Regards,
Andrew

Thank you for the suggestions. I added both to my front page.

richkoi,
very nice website, its very clean. one thing you should think about doing though is adding many pictures of products to your home page. Pictures are more then words and will sell your product for you. Fill your home page with 1 or 2 big featured products and maybe 6 other smaller pictures of products with a small description of each. You will indeed make good profits.

I think your question is very industry specific.

For example, cnn.com will have visitors spending a lot more time on their site than google.com.

Sales-wise, a conversion rate of 3-5% is considered very good. If you have trouble closing more than 1% of potential sales, take a look at your website and see where there's room for improvement. Better yet, try to find out how targeted your traffic is - the less targeted, the less they will be likely to buy.

Good luck!
