The top 50 execs at Armonk-based IBM will defer salary increases until business improves.

That item was announced by CEO/chairman Sam Palmisano at a shareholder meeting in South Carolina.

Confidence on Wall Street should get a boost from IBM's planned dividend increase of 11%. IBM's board also approved a buyback of IBM shares, to the tune of $5 billion USD.
