Default Blogs Mean Business

Marketing's new darling, blogs are the hottest topic since e-newsletters, and there's even talk that blogs will one day replace e-newsletters as the emarketing tool of choice.

If you're wondering what blogs are all about, here's a list of articles that will get you thinking:

Don't forget the case study in last month's Harvard Business Review about a blogger and the company president.

Blog publishing tools generate pages which are search-engine friendly. I used some WYSIWYG tools in the past, and looking at the HTML they generated my hair got white :-)

If you use, for example, Blogger, you get a good page you can still customize. And, anyway, blogs are cool.

There's more to a successful business blog than its mere existance. Google sure likes free content, but it prefers it to be authoritative. The best way I know to achieve this is by linking to many relevant sites. Google will lap it up.

Most weblogs are ingored. A blog will more likely thrive within an active community, in which members will read and comment.

A good blog will not directly promote a business, but will attract attention to it indirectly.

Weblogs are now a proven, effective marketing tool.

Default Blogs and RSS

Over the past 4 months I've been able to get FREE listings in Yahoo by submitting my blog RSS url to yahoo.

This WAS a great way to get into Yahoo FAST!

I submit 3 to 4 URL's a month an the latest one submitted the last week in March was indexed in Yahoo within 24 hours FREE and as of now more than 52 pages are indexed for this url.

The url submitted the first week in April has yet to be indexed.

I think the recent Yahoo update did away with this practice as more than 12,000 blogs are published daily and they got wise to us.

Is anyone familiar with the update and did Yahoo end their beta test and FREE RSS entries for their index?
