Default How do I find a good webhost??

Hi All,

I am very much a newbie in locating and sussing out which webhosts provides the best value for money. I have checked several so-called review sites and find it challenging to believe their impartiality.

Does anyone have a surefire way of finding good reliable hosts for their customer's sites?

I always likes to provide at least a couple of options to choose from but find that as soon as I venture outside of the few I know and trust I get disappointed, annoyed etc. The latest one to bring my blood in boil .. server4you.com .. so am getting darn tired of chasing these cowboys down.

Thanks for all your help and general good advice.

There are many ways and here are some few tips

-What are your web hosting needs
-How much can you afford
-What type of web hosting do you need
-What are you looking for in terms of technical support, web interactivity etc

Reviews and many journals are there once you can answer these questions and backed with the hints you have from here already add this:

webhostingtalk.com before taking any final decision.

I too have tried to find a hosting company that met my expectations.
We use http://www.cybrhost.com and they are top notch. Great service and more importantly lightning fast servers...
Good prices. Hope this helps

Default After 3 found a great one.

I have been a reseller for 3 different companies & for shared have settled on this one details at http://srifl.com/services.htm . They have dotNet sites and range from $4.95-$19.95/mo. They have a e-commerce that is access driven. I have a dotnet e-commerce for the made to specs (ex sign, printing, shutters, windows, & any co that needs answers before they can give a price) details at www.psc4.biz

I am also a reseller for authorize.net & GeoTrust (much cheaper than Verisign).

Default Small hosts are good

Smaller companies are always good, as they have more time, and they are always trying to please there customer, as they would like my customers.

I'm saying this from experience.

Good Look

Default Web Hosts

Hi All,

Thanks for your opinions and information, I have taken that to heart. I agree the smaller companies are the best, but I am a bit weary of the real small ones, how does one insure they are genuine etc. etc. and I found that I couldn't assess which the real big solid one were either. My customer needed that and was willing to pay.

I was hoping that somehow there were a magic place out there in webland that would be the definitive source for true and balanced evaluation of web hosting services. I guess this is still to come, perhaps that is a future job for someone. hehe.

Anyway, I managed to find a senior contact who eventually solved my trouble. So, I am a relative happy customer at this point.

as a FYI .. I have good experiences with: easycgi.com, ipowerweb.com & wwm.net .. in case others are also looking for good reliable hosting.

Take Care Now

I'm one of those smaller hosting companies just trying to get noticed in the sea of big hosts out there. We get nearly all of our business by referral. I wish I could say that advertising and promotion did the trick, but that's not the case for us. We work hard to please our clients, our servers are in a premium datacenter and our real uptime is 99.9%. That's not bad, it's just not quick. :)
