Andy Beal reported that Tim from WebMasterWorld (Tim Mayer of Yahoo!) confirmed that Yahoo's using a search technology that is not actually Inktomi.
Beal speculates that Yahoo Search is an advanced form of Inktomi, as it doesn't match results at HotBot or MSN (both of which serve Inktomi results). |

Hi Garrett:
It looks like Yahoo is really building out their own technology and doing this their own way. I was informed today from my Pay For Inclusion provider that Yahoo will not be using the Inktomi database or paid inclusion program after April 15. I am not able to verify this yet, but your post means this all make more sense as to why the current pay for inclusion program won't be used. Yahoo has always done things their own unique way and rarely followed the rest of the crowd. Their directory was a good example of that when it was active. Speaking of their directory is their any talk about if their own directory will used to provide results? |
