Default Where's The Fire? It's On Technorati

Our favorite three-letter acronym has been adopted by Dave Sifry as the newest feature on his blog search site, giving it a little social media flavor by allowing people to write about current topics and others to vote on the best commentary.

Since the WTF results will have prime placement on Technorati, will this become part of your social media marketing strategy?

That was a VERY unfortunate choice of acronym on Technorati's part, since WTF is used all over the web to stand for "What The F*CK???" That may confuse a lotta people about what this really means . . . :)

I think they intended your term as a synonym, it is used in a post on the Technorati site announcing WTF :)

Problem is that the "synonym" will always and ever be taken as the meaning. "Where's The Fire" doesn't stand a chance, in which case this really is one of those things I see falling flat on its face. As this answer from qee illustrates--

Just gone through WTF. Very interesting indeed. However like to know how to play with WTF.

Excuse me if I am asking a very simple questions in the expert zone.

If they wanted people to talk about the service, they picked the right three letters. Otherwise, WTF were they thinking?

Yes a standard strategy in marketing and promotion, "create a stir", kinda like the simulated terroist attack in Boston.

Default Just Wondering too...

I've been watching this post with keen interest and I find their use of WTF a real sad case of mis-used marketing tactics, and wondered how long it would be before someone mentioned Boston now just above.

Technorati is already a huge site on the web. I really wonder if it was just a simple mistake by someone who didn't give it a second thought? In this world we all have to be so careful anymore. Afterall we may not like to think about it all the time but we are at war.

Default Some Fevered Viral Marketing?

Regardless of your position on what I will only believe was extremely purposeful intent on the part of Technorati, you must admit:

The conversation is all over the Web!
