Default Democrat Sweep Good News For Net Neutrality

Although in the real world, Net Neutrality wasn't a partisan issue, in this now-defunct coin-operated Congress, it most certainly was. Republicans consistently sought to squash the issue in committees, pressuring other party members to fall in line with the telcos that contributed most to their campaigns.

With the Democrats taking back Congress in a landmark victory, that may change and Net Neutrality may get the protection over a million petitioners have sought.

Article here.

*Disclaimer: I am a member of neither party; I generally hate them both...this is just an issue on which I happen to side with one them.

At last, the government is going to step in to save the Internet.

A child of the sixties, I remember when the government stepped in to save the healthcare system. That was right around the time they stepped in to save the airline industry.

Uncle Sam will have our Internet as inexpensive as our medical bills, and as efficient as the airports in no time. Yay government!

The democrat party at least understands the rules of common carriage. The same rules that used to apply to railroads should apply to the net.
Didn't the telco's promise us fiber to every home by now.

Oooh, good example! I'll append my rant thusly:

Net-based businesses will be as prosperous as Amtrak in no time...

Not Amtrak! Try Norfolk Southern or Union Pacific. Common carriage doesn't regulate what the carrier can charge it only says that you can't charge different customers different rates for the same service. That sounds fair to me.
