Only a couple of years ago, the Web passed 50 million sites online. People have been really busy since then, firing up Dreamweaver or another HTML editor of choice, and posting lots of new websites as they seek fortune, attention, or just for the hell of it.
So why did you make your first website? More... |

Wow. That's a good question... One of the main reasons I made my first website was that I was looking for an opportunity to create cashflow which
I have accomplished. But also to establish an awareness to the world that "Hey I exist!"

My first website was to promote a small pub in the Alpes. The site as well as the Pub are out of business.
My last website offers a Plan-B for OpenOffice.org users that need a little support. K<o> |

My first site was to promote my music and sell albums.
At the time I didn't know anything about meta tags, linking etc, but got a few things right and saw some promising results which encouraged me to learn more. (That was back in 2001). Since then I have taken on blogging and an affiliate site and have seen the net as an excellent income producer. I'm currently working in the streaming video arena and keeping in touch with the latest developments and plan to incorporate this into other websites I am working on.

I feel bad. My first website was just messing around. It was a joke that almost ended my then full-time job. I took pictures of my co-workers "smiling like a doughnut." I later put shirts up there, but had to take down the store as the thing fell apart. It was fun though. www.smilelikeadoughnut.com

I made my first experiments in Yahoo Geocites and saw that you colud have a site up and go in less than an hour. I deleted them after some days.
My first real website is still alive here. Some people working in finance constantly asked for my updated link collection, so I decided to put that collection on the internet. Jacob Nielsen also had a post on the same topic. "The early Web's explosive growth rate has slowed, but even the mature Web is still expanding and recently crossed the 100 M websites mark."
