Default Yahoo has made the switch to Inktomi (Well at least some...)

A client alerted me that his Yahoo and Google searches were not equal as they were last week. I thought perhaps there was a proxy cache that needed clearing or perhaps his browser. It didn't dawn on me that the switch would be made this early.

I opened Yahoo.com and ran a search for "siena golf" and in another browser I ran the same search on google. Both were equal, after about 20 mins of clearing histories, cache's, cookies etc... I went off to positiontech's inktomi search and ran a search, had the client send me a copy of his Yahoo search page and it was a match..

So the switch is coming, a lot sooner than most might think. Good luck to everyone, I'm quite excited about it.. My sites rank well on both google and inktomi..

I am seeing nothing but Google results at Yahoo.

Yahoo has apparently been doing some brief tests of Intomi results, but so far I haven't been fast enough to see them myself.

I suspect the change is coming but when and in what form is open to speculation. I do notice that Slurp has been very busy lately and that more of my site pages have been indexed than ever before - all good indications IMO.

I'm sure it's going to happen real fast and soon. My client has been seeing it now for 1 week.

Default hmmmm

I am not seeing changes in my area...

Yahoo=Google
MSN=Inktomi and MSN Bot

Google results are totally different from MSN and Inktomi... and Yahoo are the same as Google... but obviously the night I gave one a ride.

Yahoo has recently stated that the change will be made befor the end of the first quarter of 2004, so we may have a while to wait.

Its good that yahoo are testing things out before changing results to Inktomi.
