Default Google Testing New Look (View Screen Shots)

The Google index page added a "More" link this morning directing visitors to a page listing all of their various services. Search results also appear in a different format with the words "Google Web" in the logo. AdWords appear on the side without the colored box as well. Apparently, Google is testing these changes because for some visitors no changes are visible.

Clearly, Google is having trouble trying to be a Yahoo type portal without a Yahoo type front page.

We realize most people aren't seeing this. Here are some screen shots of how Google looks to a limited number of people right now.

Default We added screen shots of changes

Ronnie,

We've added some links to the original post to screen shots of the changes. I think the most interesting aspect of these changes is the removal of the boxes around the AdWord ads in the right column. To me this indicates concern about lowering click rates.

Default Google

Very interesting post. What makes you think, Rich, removing the boxes is related to AdWords pricing?
Thanks,
JW

I think he was referring to "lowering click rates" as in not many people clicking on them any more -- making them less apparant that they are ads.

Rich -- that is odd that only part of the country can see this. I have ran across differences before over the last month and half during comparisons of data in some of the posts here at WPW. Most notably was the PR differences in the Google bar.

Perhaps there is something in the url query or your setup that is having these alternate pages served up maybe? That is just too strange that you would be getting that a total different set of pages.

Default I see the same thing ...

I am seeing the same pages ...

I didn't realize that they were out of the ordinary.

I did notice today that I have seen major rank changes when doing a google search.

Many of my keywords that were on the Scroogle list yesterday are up to 20 placement.

I also noticed that http://ca.search.yahoo.com/ (Canada) and www.google.com are showing the new results and www.yahoo.com is showing yesteday's results.

Is anyone else seeing the difference?

My keyword is: cloth diapers and the my site is in my signature below.

Default

I have just launched a new mini travel website specialising in Orlando Villas (www.HolidayVillas247.com) and decided to use AdWords for marketing.

I only started in Jan and the CTR has been absolutely fantastic for me and Orlando Villas is a very competitive market. I can only think that CTR's decline where people don't keep really on top of ads that work and ads that don't.

I scrapped 75% of keywords after 7 days and another 50% of what was left after another 7 days and I'm now really honed in on terms that works for me.

Default Google after more cash

Google after more cash

So they will charge , I guess about $125,000 a day for your link under:-

"Save time by hiting return key instead of clicking on "search".

Part of Google selling their shares to the Public.
