Maybe I'm paranoid. Maybe I overestimate the abilities of the search engine companies. But I have always refrained from using any phrase on my site that says anything like:
"reciprocal links" "exchange links" "swap links" Unless you run a large directory, asking for others to provide you with links isn't the way to go. Surf the web and find the most suitable sites to link to, the best sites for your visitors. Then ask them privately if they would consider linking back to your site.
