We all know that scammers got everywhere, in the hosting industry as well.
But recently I faced a new type of hosting scam that - in my understanding of it - is a lot more advanced and technologically elegant. This type of scam is allowing the cheaters to stay on the hosting market for a very long time (even years) and keep cheating the clients. I will not name or hint any companies, so that it does not look that I am trying to vent off, but I think that anyone who looks for the hosting should know how the web host cheaters do that today. Please read my article Hosting Rip Off Guide - Learn How Smart Host Scam is Working Today and share your experience. Have you been part of it?

Thanks for the feedback and advice, Easywebdev.
It is perhaps the only way to make sure that the hosting is good via the reputable web hosting forums and what people are saying. I also agree that the combination of price vs technical parameters is a viable factor, but they can lure people in saying "this is just for the intro part to get more people using our service, those who get it now - will have this price forever, but in a year we'll increase, etc." I know this sounds kinda lame, but there is a way to "explain" why the price is that low. What is a bottom line for my choices of webhosting (for at least the last year) - is the feedback on the hosting forums - what is the level of support, how quickly they respond to the problem and other details.
