Very good webhost
Hey everyone. I just thought I would tell ya'll that I have a very good webhost now. I finally came upon a decent one after being with a really unreliable and complicated one for a while. The SiteBuild website is better than the others I've tried because they acctually have the tools for us beginners to get our website's off the ground and have videos and other mediums for guides. I really enjoy them a lot. I'm glad I came across this forum, it looks very sophisticated compared to other forums I have scene recently. I'm trying to start my own website with this host and will hopefully have it up for critiques soon. Cheers to more chatting with ya'll.
ps--if any of ya'll were wanting that website, here it is, a direct link to their "sitebuildit" product.

Re: Very good webhost
This is a horrible display of self promotion. The poster of this thread is the same person on the marketing video. Kenny, do you really think we wouldn’t notice?

Re: Very good webhost
Excuse me, but I am NOT the "same person on the marketing video"! I was just telling you what I honestly think about it! I was with a host called midPhase, which I signed up with before doing any research, got a refund from them because they were total garbage, not good customer service, etc. I then found these people by looking on that same midPhase forum board of irritated customers and they had a link to that sitebuildit site, saying it was really good for planning, which I needed really bad. I signed up and I think it is pretty darn good! I don't think they need my help to advertise anyway! Just telling ya'll they are a good place to help brainstorm and design a website. I don't care if you use them, just telling ya'll! Thanks--Sorry for the misunderstanding!

Re: Very good webhost
Its odd that your username is Kennywolf and the guy on the video introduces himself as Ken and you say your name is Jason. Please accept my apologies if I was incorrect in my last post. You only have 2 posts and the first one is promoting someone and the second post is in the same thread. Looks a little fishy! Just my 2-cents!

I'm sorry about that. Yeah, I didn't even know that dude's name was Ken. I just came on to get a little more information in my head.
Sorry,
Jason

Re: Very good webhost
Hmmm. Looks like this thread isn't getting taken down, so I feel it's only fair that some other hosts get recommended.
I'm with Godaddy (anyone fancies accusing me of owning it fire away!) and very happy with service and price. I don't think a link is necessary, they're easy enough to find.
Have used Totalchoicehosting and they're an absolute nightmare. Would only recommend them to anyone who likes domains expiring and a system that requires you to have 3 or four different sets of usernames & passwords to get anything done. I'm fairly sure they're just a Godaddy affiliate with a crap system basically.

I hope you have custom 404 error pages on your site.
If not, GoDaddy loves to advertise and make money off of them at their client's expense

Re: Very good webhost
Hell yes. Now you've said that, I'm going to annoy everyone by going off-topic. I read that custom 404 pages are a bad thing - yes or no?
From a visitor point of view, I definitely see the advantage - my 404's have the sites' menu on them, so the user knows where he is and can get to some content, rather than clicking back and leaving.
But apparently spiders see the custom page as "not" a 404, get all confused and some kind of penalty get's imposed. Despite having read that, my Google webmaster account shows Google reading my custom page as a 404 just fine, or am I missing something?

I do not have that problem with spiders, because I added in the headers of my error pages:
<meta name="robots" content="noindex,follow" />
Or did I misunderstand your point?

Looks like you not only understood my post clearly, but went on to provide a good answer to a question I hadn't had the foresight to ask!
many thanks

Re: Very good webhost
Just chiming in. I removed the link because I agree with my fellow mod, but, the discussion continued, so I thought...what the heck? If you want to continue the discussion of Hosting Services, and the differences and the strenghts, I'm good.
But let's move the discussion elsewhere.
