Default Please recommend a good host?

Please can someone recommend a good host? I am with Site 5 on multi hosting and they seem to have constant problems and my sites all go down. They don't even let you know so you can pause your adwords etc.
Please can someone recommend a really good host? I know that there can be problems but would like a host that at lease communicated when there is a problem.

Jeez I checked out thier site and they ARE CHEAP! But I quess you get what you pay for.

I have a similiar deal with IV Hosting. I've been with them a year now and never had a problem. It's pretty basic WHM and C-Panel and there's E-mail support only though . . .

But we get what we pay for (or so the Capitalists say).

Thanks- yes I guess so. But some are better than others even in the cheap range. Its hard to find reviews that you can be sure are independent and not affiliate linked . Maybe someone should start a private membership site for independent reviews.

I know this sounds like self recommendation, but what type of service are you looking for? Such as CMS specialist, Windows, etc..?

Thanks I spent a lot of time looking for honest reviews and finally went with PolurNet which came up smelling of roses in all the reviews I found.

It all depends on the type of host. If the host you have right now can't even keep your site up, then move on. I've tried a bunch, but which one you pick really depends on what you're trying to do. If its a simple site with some PHP or ASP, I'd us www.Godaddy.com. If you need some technical support or custom development www.Dietwebhosting.com is pretty good. If it's full ecommerce then www.Yahoo.com is another option.

We have started a new web hosting directory to meet your needs and provide user 2 user web hosting company ratings. We are not owned by any hosting company and we don't provide any biased "independent" ratings, we want web hosting users to join our community and provide their own ratings. So, if you are interested, please go to www.webhostingusers.com and rate your host, you just might win our ipod nano giveaway. Also, we are writing the ultimate guide on how to choose your web host. You can see it being assembled in the forums and we would love your input and comments on it.

If you are interested in trying a free host, please try freesites.com

In the interest of full disclosure, I hold a position with freesites so this post isn't exactly unbiased. I would, however, be very interested in your thoughts on our product.

Cheers,

Why not try ECSPortal, it is very cheap, fast and reliable. I host my sites there. Support is good.

I'm using this one for my sites. Great support and very good tools no one else is offering. The best thing is that you can try it for one dollar:

I'm sorry to say that I can't recommend ECSPortal.com anymore. Their service has degraded totally. The server is down each day for hours. More offending is that they do not reply to support tickets. It is a bad investment on my part. Loss of time, money and peace.
Can anybody suggest where to lodge a complaint agaisnt this hosting service provider?

I have to say www.wesh.co.uk are the best by far in my opinion. They are very, very helpful and they get delight in helping you out - or thats how they seem.

They are not the cheapest but they are by far the best I have ever used and they provide a high quality service - well worth it GO WESH!!

Default hosting company and customer service issues

I would not recommend Aplusnet if you need customer support. Their team proved to be very poor responders and seemed to be run by a mix of students and speakers with very basic command of the english language and pronunciation.

Otherwise, they offer lots of disk space and ecommerce applications.

Default Choosing a reliable hosting company

I would like to recommend Hardhathosting if you need MySql database management. They provide VDS, virtual dedicated server hosting, a good way to go if your have an ecommerce site. I have been with them for over a year and their customer service is fine. My web has always been up.

For websites without ecommerce, I'd recommend Ipowerweb for their great features to price ratio and an excellent uptime record. I have had a couple web sites hosted with them for over 3 years on shared hosting.

From personal experience, I could also recommend Inmotion hosting too, though not for heavy database related web sites.

Really, to choose a hosting company, you need to know what kind of applications you'll be running, the disk space and bandwith you'll use and how geeky you are. Based on that information, things like customer service become relatively important.

Reading customer reviews on forums such as these is good, but you need to remember that most of the time, you only take the time to review a company when you're disgruntled with their service. It becomes a means of venting anger.

If all is well with your hosting company relationship, chances are you don't have any opinion on their customer support team simply because you've had no real experience with them.
