Can anyone out there give me an indication of the percentages of web surfers out there that use each setting of screen resolution?
With technology always advancing I appreciate that screen resolutions are always going to get higher and web sites need to be designed with this in mind, but what percentage of the world's web surfers currently use a screen resolution for viewing web sites: 1. 800 x 600 2. 1024 x 768 3. others I'm sure the answer will be vastly different in each part of the world. I will greatly appreciate anyone's input into this. Thanks in advance Sheldon |

Normaly you should design your layout with relative values (e.g. %), and then you will not need to think about browser resolution statistics.
But statistics you can anyway find here: http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp If you need any further help, just feel free to post.

I just came across this very interesting message. This informs about the way to track the number of users for the resolution on every page of your site that you want to track for.
Simply use the following javascript on every page to track for resolution: if(navigator.appVersion.substring(0,1)>'3') {values='&depth='+ screen.colorDepth+'&resolution='+escape(screen.wid th+ ' x '+screen.height}; you can now use the 'values' variable as querystring to your server domain url. e.g. http://tracking.yourserver.com/track.asp?values hope this helps... |
