Default How do you take a normal size photograph and crunch it down?

Hi everyone, I have a question that has been on my mind for a while; Perhaps b/c I am no web developer, or graphic designer- in fact this is a very basic question; how does one take a normal sized photograph, that lets say they took with their digital camera and decrease the magnification; so that, when you put it on your website it doesn't look out of place. I continue to struggle with this....

Not sure if you are dealing with tring to reduce the demensions of the image or the overall size in kb.

The graphic software you are using would help to give you specifics. But in photoshop use the save for web command under the file menu. On the window that comes up off to the right at the bottom click on the image size tab. Here you can change the dimesions of the image by exact pixels or by percentage. When you click on the save button the image will be saved with these dimesions and compressed to a size campatable with the web. Change the settings on this window to save as a gif or a jpeg and quality of the end image.

Hope this helps

Resolution should be set to 72, then resize your image as blastradius mentioned.

Make sure your work area [for lack of a better word] percentage is set to 100% so you get a more accurate idea of the resized image.

I use LizardTechs Genuine Fractals for any major (i.e. 20% or more) resize. I've been using it for the past 4 years or so and have great results with it!
