Question Cant see avatar image in IE

Hi guys,

I am experiencing a peculiar problem in one of our forums.

User avatars are showing up fine in Mozilla but the same comes as "x" when seen in IE and even Chrome.

Can someone please suggest what could be the possible reason and how we could fix this?

Thanks for the help.

I am not really sure but I'll try to suggest. Did you put up any mods on your forum? Try to remove it first and see if it still happens.

I am facing this problem in Phpbb. We do use certain mods in our forums.

Thanks.

A problem that exists in both IE and Chrome suggests to me that the problem is not with the client, but more likely with a server side configuration. The first thing I would look at is the address that is being given to the client for the image - it is possible that the bulletin board software is giving a relative address that Firefox is able to resolve while other browsers are not.

Another possibility is that the mime type being sent with the image is incorrect. This is unlikely to affect Chrome and IE in the same way since Chrome is more likely to match Firefox's behavior in this circumstance, but it is a possibility.
