Default Integrate Music And Video Files Into Website

Hello!

Our website's 3rd anniversary is coming up this month, and all our staff is working hard for an amazing update on the official date. Along with this huge update, our website will be adding music and video files for our contents. My question is, "How can you integrate music and video files into your website?" I've seen other websites do it, and can't figure out how. When I say integrate, I don't mean just putting the video file onto the page; I mean for a pop up to come up and the movie plays (but has our title and stuff as well in the background "Mikey's Town Video") I hope this makes sense, I'm kinda in a hurry at the moment. If this helps, I guess the same code would be used for both this pop up and just playing it on the same page. I'd appreciate all help!

Sincerely,
Mike

MikeysTown,

Happy anniversary, in order to have your sounds and video files open you simply need to place them on your web server and create links to them,

Example

You have an MP3 file named anniversary.mp3

Upload anniversary.mp3 to your web directory on your server

Place a link to it ( http://www.yoursite.com/anniversary.mp3

When your visitor clicks on it the mp3 file will play.

Since nothing is ever as easy as it seems, here are some things to note.

a. be sure your host allows audio and video files
b. there are a variety of different formats out there, if you're offering a file format that the visitor doesn't have a program to play, he won't be able to play your file.
c. video and audio files can use up a large amnount of data transfer (bandwidth) very quickly specially on a popular site, check with your hosting plan to ensure you have adequate data transfer quotas, I would additionally inquire with your host as to their policies regarding exceeding quotas since that can be costly.

Best of luck to you.

Default yeah

When I first began toying with downloadable files I once maxed 1 months worth of datatransfer/bandwidth in under 2 days. Thank goodness teh webhost then was reeeeaaally gracious to me and just told me to remove that media and he would not charge extra that month phew.

thankfully I now host together with a partner company - they made me their North Zone partner so I can actually run a download center.

Don't try this at home ahahahha.
