Default IE6/7 - Please check my dev page

I've been chasing some png transparency / js conflicts -- related to unitpngfix.js which was causing some strange layout issues related to z-index in IE6 -- and now seem to be getting fairly consistent results @ browsershots.org.

In particular I'm seeking feedback on:

- background shadow (left and right of main wrapper)
- 'services' dropmenu functionality, positioning and background transparency

Everything functions and looks as it should in five browsers on Mac.

Here's the page (please be patient - server seems slow today):

document title goes here

If you respond please also let me know browser version and OS

Many thanks in advance.

I checked your page in the following browsers, all in Windows XP.

IE6/7
FireFox ver. 3.0.4
Opera ver. 9.01
Safari (for Windows) ver. 3.2.1
Chrome
Netscape Navigator ver. 9.0b2

The only browser that had any trouble with transparency and layers was IE6, where the navigation menu forces the "leftcoll" div down beneath it instead of rendering on mouseover.

I'd suspect that increasing the z-index of the nav menu and/or decreasing the z-index on the leftcol layer might solve this.

Other than that, the PNG transparency on the nav menu doesn't work in IE6, though I'm sure you're already aware of this.

Just a suggestion regarding the rollovers using the"navwords" class. You might want to make the text darker on mouseover as it becomes pretty difficult to read when the layer transparency is applied. In some browsers it's almost invisible.

Really appreciate that Dubbya - even if it wasn't good news about IE6, but then again (and I suppose, as usual) it's the only browser I have to waste more time on!!!

IE6 - The odd thing is, I am getting proper looking screenshots at browsershots.org in both XP and 2000 (obv I can't check the dropmenu).

From all my googling I have discovered unitpngfix.js can muck about with z-index so I'm going to try alternate png transparency handling as I really want the shadows behind the main content (not so worried about the dropmenu).

Re. main rollovers - thx, good point.

I re-post later - hope you (or anyone else) won't mind taking another quick look in IE6.

I've gone a different route, principally for accessibility reasons.

Would really appreciate feedback on the 'services' dropmenu - esp. in IE6 - which I had trouble with in terms of getting it to 'hide' on load and positioning:

document title goes here

Thanks.
