Editable PDF Type Registration Forms

I need to add a registration form to a page, the client doesn't want to deal with reading messy, handwritten pages and they don't want a formmail type of email form. They want a PDF type form that can be filled out by the registrant before printing and then snail mailed to them along with a check or money order.

I know this can be done with Acrobat, but I don't have Acrobat. Before I buy it, is there another less costly way to accomplish this?

You'll find a zillion different programs.

One of the best free engines that I've found can be found at: Free PDF Creator - Convert to PDF from Any File You Can Print - PrimoPDF

It works as a print driver: just create your form in your usual word processing or desktop publishing package and then 'print to pdf'. Should do the job for what you need.
