Wink Digital Publishing Software

I am looking for software that is used for e-publishing to place on my website. I have come across ebookcreator.net which the software seems to be everything I am looking for in terms of being able to track clicks and it also gives me the control of management (unlike other sites that do this for you and house it on their server). The only thing is the cost is really expensive. Anyone familiar with this software or know another that is similar that places the control in my hands and allows unlimited e-book publishing while offering the conversion to xml for upload to my server?

Thank you in advance for your replies.

Read eBooks - is there a secure system? and ask again if that does not solve your problem.

Hi Bardot3,
I may not be the best to answer but here 2c worth. Full blown software of that type will cost you arms & legs.
You can track easily with tracking scripts for free anything on your site. Regards publishing, you can read my book soon - but - why not use Open Office (its totally free - a MS Word lookalike). I use it for all my e writing, write your stuff - design it, convert to PDF with all links active and put it up on your site. Use a downloader to hide your download link or it will be "stolen". Regards rebranding your "book" you need a script - there are a couple free, these allow an affiliate to put their "link brand" on your book & re-sell it.
The downloader will collect info re the buyer & and manage the payment depending of the system you use - ie a shop front or standalone script. Some shop fronts are free scripts (Zen cart etc) and handle all cataloging, payments downloads etc etc. These are just integrated into your current site - try googling ecommerce scripts.

Goodluck

Dude, I love you but are in way over your head. You're not even using the right terminology. It sounds like you're either wanting a CMS (Content Management System - it supplies an interface database that makes it easier create/manage & track content, users and provides at least basic statistics on user behavior) or at least "analytics" software.

(Of course I could be the one totally mis-understanding things . . .)

There are many dozens of each. Now that you know the right terms you can search yahoo for these things and read about them.

However, they don't list their own faults (it's capitalism), and choosing/implementing the wrong one can waste tons of time, money and/or resources.

You need a consult from someone who works with these things on a regular basis. Try a web marketing expert, instead of trying to do this yourself. there are many here. I am currently not taking any new clients but there is a forum just for that in this web site.

PS it doesn't look like the software at ebookcreator.net does anything except make e-books. No web visitor tracking etc.

Unless you are referring to the spyware it hides in the e-books it creates. This spyware is easily defeated by most firewalls, highly unethical, and illegal here in some states of the U.S. IF you are really considering planting spyware on all of your customers computers we cannot help you here. I'm sure that's not what you're wanting though, your probably wanting to know things like, how many people visited the "buy now" page without buying the book, etc . . .

Most software doesn't run on their own servers but your server instead. It's not a feature, it's the norm.

Wink Re: Digital Publishing Software

Thanks for all of your feedback. You are correct that I am looking for a content management system for e-publishing. I would like to be able to make this as easy as possible. Most of e-publishing services that I have come across house the content on their server and make the changes for you. This is costly because they charge anywhere from 10-15 a page plus around 100-1500 start up fee. I am planning on using this for many publications and in the long run spending money on our own "content management" system would be cheaper. I will continue to venture on and look for additional software.
