Arrow My Sites Width

Hi

I have made my web page 1050 px wide. Is this too much.

I did this because most people have 17in screens

Cheers

I'd say go for 1024px width. Well, it'd be a bit under that to account for scrollbars and whatnot.

1024 X 768 is apparently the new 800 x 600.

Maximum safe width of a web page at 1024x768 is 960 pixels.

This width will work across any browser and it allows for "browser chrome" such as vertical scrollbars and the edges of the browser window itself.

Yeah I agree with Dubbya (now there's something I thought I'd never hear myself say..!) to stick to a res that works on a 1024 resolution, so safely designing to around 960px.
