How to create ebook covers?

I have to design an ebook cover for my first ebook. Do you have any suggestions? I don't have a license for Photoshop, so I can't use any tutorials.

Plenty of free image editors are available.

Free Photo Editors for Windows - Top Picks

You'll no doubt be able to find tutorials for them as well.

If you're doing a layout for a pdf file, you can do it in MS, Word or Publisher and print it as a .PDF file, then import it into your main document through Acrobat.

Try not to put text in your photos unless there's a reason for it such as in a company logo.

Thanks Dubbya for your suggestion. I am using GIMP to edit images, but I am still searching for a good cover creator program. What I am using now, eCover Engineer, uses a lot of CPU on my old machine.

I have found a good ebook cover designer.
But its the technical stuff that bothers me.

I would dearly love to know how to build a website for free.
My son has built all my websites to date and I am getting embarrassed to ask him to do more. So I have looked at 1and1.com and Freewebs. Is there anything else out there?

use photoshop to make like a logo or what do you want to make and then save like a .jpg picture and add to a new pdf file wich will be your cover

I use the Paint.net program and have a video on easy way to make a cover.

I think to design and enhance the ebook you must be having one more software from Adobe itself called Adobe Page Maker.
