I am using Frontpage. there are 2 picture options there. People tell me the photos are fuzzy on my website, and I am thinking of doing all the photos over.
http://www.gallerywestnowhere.com/ga...exhibition.htm 1. Under Picture properties, am I suppose to x the box specify size? 2. Under Picture Options it shows 90 as Quality when I got the Program, am I suppose to change this to 100? Is there a way to put photos in front Page at 96 instead of 72? Should I do this? Also in Adobe photoshop it changes the 96 to 72 when you save for the web, is there a way to change the setting? I have seen where some people use "ART" files, what are they and should I buy a program to do ART files of my paintings? If so what program? The pictures of my paintings look good when printed on paper, it is just when I put them on the web that they don't. I do not want to redo all my photos if they are not going to look in better!! Any Help is appreciated, Cornett |

If you prefer, you can use the FrontPage thumbnails option to create a page of thumbnails which link to separate pages for the larger photos.

As for the ART format, I wouldn't bother - I think that's some sort of proprietary AOL format - stick to jpegs and you'll be fine.

Thanks, I have been doing my photos in a separate graphics editor, however I do not understand the two
picture properties in Front Page. Can anyone explain these 2? 1. Under Picture properties, am I suppose to x the box specify size? 2. Under Picture Options it shows 90 as Quality when I got the Program, am I suppose to change this to 100? Cornett |

Thanks for your help.
I do the photos of my paintings in a separate graphichs program, I set the ppi at 72, some people told me it should be at 96. Which is right 72 or 96? Cornett http://www.gallerywestnowhere.com |

I don't think there is a right or wrong here - which looks best for you?
If you can't see a difference in your browser, then opt for the setting that gives you the smallest file size, to minimize download time for your visitors - i.e., increase resolution and image size just to the point where you can see an improvement and then stop, since higher resolutions or image sizes will increase file size unnecessarily.

Setting the dpi to a higher resolution, eg 96 dpi, is not going to make any difference to the apparent quality of the image when viewed on screen. Dots per inch (dpi) only becomes a concern when you're using the images for print, in such cases you would want as high a resolution as possible, either 300 or 600dpi is often required. Hope that helps, Paul |
