Question Is it possible with CSS?

Is it possible using css, a 3 column liquid design with header and footer..
to make the side columns height change in relation to the bottom of page.

Because at the moment I have made a page as I like it, but if the center columns content is more than the side columns, the side columns kind of stop whereas I want them to reach the footer on the page, no matter what content is in them.

I just wondered if its possible before I start looking for a solution, or if someone could point me in right direction if it is possible.

I was thinking if the footer was a fixed height, therefor, could I make the side columns height to be relative to that, so always reaching 150px from base, if footer was 150px high?

the page I am working on is homepage of findallsorts.com. You can see what I mean, because the side columns stop whilst the center content goes on.

Thanks

Actually I fixed it by messing about with background colours and borders of the center content column.

You found one of the possible solutions. But there is also this:

Example - In search of the One True Layout - One True Layoutâ„¢ - Interactive Example
