Default Please help me with my email!

Please help, I need to design a formatted email. I'm new to this and need either to learn from a tutorial, or modify an existing email, or to use a program. What's the best way of approaching this?

The type of email design I'm looking to do has formatted text and one or two graphics at the end.

Regards,

Joel Harper

Your email manager/client has to handle HTML input.
Hotmail.com probably does it. In order to get certain whether it handles HTML, send HTML formatted email to yourself.

For formatting, use any HTML editor, say Nvu (Nvu is free for download on net).

Formatting steps:

1. Write your email the way you want it to look like
as WYSIWYG in your HTML editor
2. In your editor, open the source code page and copy "all" HTML code from there.
3. Insert that "all" code to your HTML form in email client

"all" means here entire code.

We found it extremely helpful:

That article you reference, while good, does not address the problems that have cropped up since the release of Outlook 2007, since the article was published in 2006.

Hi BJ,

For those of us who code by hand, do you know of an MS HTML Email Validator that isn't a plug-in for Macromedia or Visual Basic? I read your blog post and the rules seem pretty straight forward, but it would be good to have a double-check. I don't have any MS Office stuff on my machine.

Sorry, okparrothead, but the only thing I can suggest is what I did-- a test run to as many different email clients as you can find. When I did the last html email template the client had most of them set up, and I had a few he didn't have. The ones that seem to be just a bit touchy, besides outlook 2007, are hotmail (go figure, by the makers of *&^%$ IE!) and yahoo mail, with just a very small speedbump with text sizes in one of the others which I can't remember, which was solved by either using percentage or em sizing for text. If you stick to what I gave you, keep your styles inline and don't use background images or nested tables you should be okay. **Knock on wood**

the common software on almost everybody's PC is Microsoft Word.

It allows sending formatted emails directly from it thru your IP server
email client (outlook express?)

Just hit the MS Word icon,
fill in the text wysiwyg (wysiwyg =what you see is what you get)
hit the send email button
and your are done.
