My biggest peeve with ecommerce orders is the fact that some of them hide their prices. They want your credit card information BEFORE they give you the total of the order. Why do they do that?

It seems dishonest to me, almost as if they think they can get more money out of you if you've already committed to the transaction. If you've already put in your credit card information, what's to keep them from using that?

I say, be honest, be upfront, and be informative! Then you have a better chance of getting my business.

1. Right on, Wen! Once, I had a site that didn't display the total until after the info/charge went through, but there was a bug/SNAFU and they charged me 146.79 in S/H for a 10.00 item! has since been fixed and refunded in full.
(or least, if you do this, make sure your cart code is solid.)
2. I have issues with sites in which all navigation (contact, support, faqs, links, etc.) point to the JOIN NOW page ,on which of course you must give cc info.
If you cant answer my questions about what you are selling, etc., I cant give you my money!!
Might be different if just a name, but I doubt it...
I guess that falls under untrustworthy on the poll.

UPDATED 10/01/03 --
I was trying to purchase some downloadable software, but I didnot want/need to pay an extra 19.95 for a disk copy to be shipped too. The two options were separate in the cart but, when I tried to uncheck the disk option and continue, I was told that my cart was empty and I needed to continue to shop. I tried to resolve this several times to no avail. I will not be buying this software anytime soon.

Default No contact info

Do not ever buy anything from a site where not contact information is supplied for recourse.

The last few day I've receive about 50 unsolicited emails for DVD Copy Professional. The link takes you directly to an affiliate prefab page with no link to the actual manufacturer.
