Default quantity of javascript

how bad is it to have a lot of javascript. Note that the particular scripts are not overwhelming and are extremely subtle. I have two main javascripts, mouseovers for the buttons at the top, and mouseovers for the links throughout the entire page. Other scrips include statcounter and a real time visitor monitor. How do I know if I have too many scripts?

nseidm1,

I don't believe that you are actually asking a question about website design.

I believe that you are trying to drive traffic to your website that promotes a totally bogus (i.e., false) system for fuel efficiency.

,dave

P.S. Whilst I am smiling in my avatar photo, I am not smiling for you.

P.P.S. Move your JavaScript to external files.

I haven't visited your website... but as for your question...

I have heard no more than 3 on a page and that's pushing it... I believe they would like two or less...

I beleive that is because SE spiders don't follow flash, java and most dynamic pages...

I could be wrong with new technology...

I thought you might like this tid bit...

If you use JavaScript to control your website navigation, then search engine spiders may have problems crawling your site. If you must use JavaScript, then there are two options available to you:

Use the NOSCRIPT tag to replicate the JavaScript link in standard HTML.

Replicate your JavaScript links as standard HTML links in the footer of your page.

Default good tips

Thx for the tips. Even you dave. I have already moved the scripts to an external file, an excellent suggestion! The other tips have also been extremely helpful in cleaning up my site.

I looked at you page and I do not see any problems at all, as you have done the right thing. You have made your JavaScripts external.

Since you are worried about SEO, I would like to give you an off-topic tip:

Get rid of these Meta Tags:

<meta name="resource-type" content="document">
<meta name="generator" content="AnyBrowser.com MetaMaker">
<meta name="revisit-after" content="15 days">
<meta name="classification" content="Engineering">
<meta name="robots" content="INDEX">
<meta name="distribution" content="Global">
<meta name="copyright" content="2006 Water Fuel LLC. All rights reserved."> This is not valid. You should consider using i.e the ICRA Meta tag.
<meta name="author" content="Water Fuel LLC">
<meta content="admin@waterfuelconverters.com" http-equiv="reply-to">
<meta name="language" content="English"> You do need this either. You can define the language in your <html> tag doing this: <html lang="en">
<meta name="doc-type" content="Private">
<meta name="doc-class" content="Living Document">
<meta name="doc-rights" content="Private">

More about Meta tags see here: http://code.google.com/webstats/2005-12/metadata.html

another suggestion out of place in this thread is to add WMV files for your videos and add a profile of your site to youtube and myspace...

I had 700 views of one video in 2 days...

the WMV versions of your movies, would allow people like me who don't like QuickTime's invasive software...
