Default Help With Determined Clients

Hello,

I have a question about a design I am working on. The client is a small non-profit that I had designed a site for about a year ago. I recently started working on an update and ran into a sticky spot.

The client's logo is a puzzle with wrapped text, the colors are bright, basic colors. The logo has changed since the first site, so it needed to be updated as well as the site.

The design I proposed softened the colors for better on screen presentation. The client is now requesting I do the page design using the original logo colors, which when coupled with the design come out overwhelming to me. Here are the urls:

Soft color: http://www.southplattewebdesign.com/rural/index.htm

Original color:
http://www.southplattewebdesign.com/rural/index2.htm

Best way to handle a client/customer such as this? I know I wouldn't want my logo changed unless it would be beneficial, which in this case (to me anyway) their logo is not very suited for online presentation (it was created in Word using WordArt and the Word drawing tools). Do I stick to my guns, or just give them what they want?

My goal is to help my clients maximize their online portion of biz, but keep it inline with their offline portion. There should be continuity, but on this it just doesn't click to my eyes.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

I agree with you concerning the "loudness" of the original color but I don't think it is overpowering the page so I would just do what they want. Design and color are very subjective and what you and I might think are totally different than what your client thinks. The biggest difference is that your client is paying the bills.

Rick,

Thanks for the feedback, and I believe you are right -- too many times I get a design stuck in my head and well, it's stuck...
