Default HTML to HTML+CSS

Could someone please point me to a tutorial, or give a short tutorial on how to use .css to clean up a page or template done in html? I would especially like to know if there is a way to use css to create nested tables so it would be easy to add boxes (for info or products) that match.

Default ;) thanks

Thank you, I keep hearing debates about using .css vs table based designs, and I'm interested to see the difference.
