Default CSS question

Greetings Humans,

I have been asked if it's normal for a page's elements (text, graphics, borders, etc) to flow off a background, a page, or just plain out of whack when resizing the browser. I've never run across this before, so I was wondering if it's a known problem with CSS or divs? The site works fine in 1024x768 and greater, it's just when the browser is something less than full screen that this happens.

If the site is not designed properly, then yes, it can happen. To use css is different thinking than tables. If you need help fixing it, let us know.

An xhtml/css site that is designed well will take window resizing in stride down to at least an 800 x 600 resolution. It will also take into account the fact that people use different font sizes other than the default and act well if the viewer has chosen a font size bigger than the browser default.

If the info is popping out of the divs it needs some adjusting at a minimum, and possibly complete redesign behind the scenes.

I agree with bj that a re-size to 800x600 should not run the page elements off the page or create a horz. scroll bar. When your 800x600 users represent less than 5% of users, it should no longer be a concern for you.
