Default IE5+6 not showing CSS menus correctly?

I am in the process of building a website for a client,
and created a pure CSS dropdown + flyout menu for the navigation.
Naturally I work on a Mac and tested the menu in Safari, Firefox and Opera, all worked fine until I showed a friend the site on his PC, he uses IE6 and is not able to see the CSS flyouts!

Is there any way to create a pure CSS dropdown + flyout menu without the use of Javascript so IE users can view it?

Naturally, I don't check sites on Mac IE 5.2 since it does not validate to anything, the entire Internet looks incorrect in that browser.

The Site URL is: Michael Lewis Ministry if you want to see it.

Thanks!!
- Dave

To make :hover work on IE there's no choice other than using JavaScript, http://www.xs4all.nl/~peterned/csshover.html should short you out without you having to change any/much CSS.

As it requires JavaScript be enabled, if it isn't hovers stop working again, you do need to make sure the site can be used if the menus don't flyout.

Isn't IE fun ;)

Do a Google search for "CSS pop out menu" and you'll find all sorts of CSS tutorials.

If you just want to disect one here's a pure CSS one that validates:

What do you mean by "validate"??

My menu validates, but it does not work with IE.
Do you mean it validates with IE?

I'm not afraid to use JS, but I'd rather not if I have an option. It drives me to insanity to try and make pages work with IE, mostly because I can't easily test them. IE needs to become web compliant, I hope they finally get it done with IE 7, but I doubt it.

Yes it works on IE6 Win, it uses the JavaScript behaviour file from xs4all.

Thanks for the link meyer,

That helps a lot, I really was hoping to use pure CSS as I'm trying to get away from both JS and table design. But alas, IE needs to catch up, so... Javascript it is. Oh well, let's just hope no IE user turns it off.

Thanks again everyone.

You may want to move the myspace video down as your menu currently falls behind it =)

I assume you want a dropdown and not a flyout menu that is pure css.
Check out http://www.cssplay.co.uk/menus/final_drop.html

Thanks for the reply.
It's funny, I was out for a while, and have finally gotten a chance to work on the menus right now, and then you reply. Funny. ;)

Actually, first, that menu is a Dropdown + flyout, and second, a dropdown + flyout is exactly what I need/am using.

I've developed a IE 5+6 Plus IE7 (beta) workaround, I've yet to officially test it, but I'm 99% certain it will work.

I'll post here again to have someone with IEx to test it when I'm finished and have everything uploaded.
