Page Width

Hi everyone, I have mentioned in the past I am a total novice at web site, I've been looking at our site and realised that the home and category pages are only displayed about 75% of the page width but when you view an item the full page is used, except for the header which stays at the 75% width.
Can any one give some advice and guidance on how to display all pages at 100% of the page please. I have looked at the stylesheet.css but it makes no sense to me, is that were I should be looking?

Your main table width="715". Try 100% instead.
