Default Graphics program.

Has anyone used Maya? Is it hard to learn? How much does it cost? And, Do I have to have a beefy PC to use it.

I've never used it but from what I've read and seen of it it's a very beefy and professional program. I believe it costs at least $5000. And I would definatly recomment a computer with a good graphics card and lots and lots of spare RAM.

If you looking to start learning 3D there are some smaller and simpler programs to start with.

Maybe try bryce.

I agree, a lot can be done with Bryce, I've used it for countless projects. Still depends on how far you want to go with it.

Maya from my experience is about the same as 3DSMax. I've used both, and they're about a horse apiece as far as learning curve goes. Doesn't take a genious though, (otherwise why would I be using it...) it just takes patience to learn it. Before long it's like old hat. Once it clicks, it clicks. Plenty of tutorials online. I recommend trying one or two of those, and before long you've got the hang of it.

Pricey -- yes I know, but there's deals to be found. For anyone taking a class somewhere, there are academic discounts to be found as well...
