Default Creating secure site

I want my sites login page to be accessible only via an https request (i.e https://www.sitename.com).How can i make this possible? Also is it possible that if the user types in http://www.sitename.com, it would still get redirected to the "https" site? I have my own servers on which i am hosting all my pages.Could someone explain how i can go about achieving this result. Thanks in advance

Hi,

Well, first of all you need to get an SSL certificate and have it installed in the root of your domain name

I don't know if I would advise you to re-direct from http to https . just put a link from the main site.

Once you have the certificate installed, put your pages in a folder and just reference it with the (s)
Make sure the images and all files in those pages are referenced by the https and not http otherwise you'll get those security errors

To obtain a certificate, depending upon the use of the site:

you can create your own if you have a certificate server (such as one on Windows 2000 server) by installing certificate services.

The other options is a commercial entity such as VeriSign or Thawte.

Just thought I would add this in case it was helpful.

Stone,

If not running your own server, you will also need a dedicated IP in order to run SSL.
