Hi,
I have always done up templates in photoshop and from there transformed that template into html in dreamweaver, but yesterday discovered in dreamweaver that you can output these templates into css format web pages....... my question is which is better hand coding it your self or letting imageready do the job for you. If you do an entire web page from image ready does it not leave a huge amount of unneccessary graphics in your file, and also from the point of search engine optimisation are you not leaving all your key wiords out as graphics??? can you delete certain parts out in dreamweaver and re fill with html colors and text? Thanks, dying to save myself the time of doing all the html and css in dreamweaver but unsure of results |

I would slice the images up by hand and write my own HTML code. There's no way to know for sure that ImageReady will give you the results you want.
More than likely, it'll save text as images and that isn't good for SEO.

Pete, the answer depends on how good a web-page you want, and how much time you're willing to devote to it. If you need to throw something together quickly, then Imageready may do an adequate job of outputting code for you. But it will definitely not be optimized code.
There are a lot of tricks that a coder can do in HTML that you won't get from Imageready. For example, using a repeating image for a background to save download time, or creating a fluid-width layout that will fit any screen resolution. So if you're willing to spend the time on the HTML and CSS, then yes, it's definitely better to do it in Dreamweaver; but if you're starting from scratch, the learning curve is steep, so don't expect it to happen overnight. Hope that helps! Arvana arvanadesign.com |
