I am having trouble with the appearance of a site I am building. The site utilizes a drop down menu and a .swf animated banner.
The issue is that as the banner loads the animation "stalls" as it starts to spell out the acronym "SUSRIS" on the right. http://www.computer-services.us/saf/...king-fahd.html Is there a way to force the banner to completly load before the menu bar (or vise-versa) to prevent the stall? Thanks.....

It did not stall on load for me and I am using a dial up connection.

Hi and thanks!
The stall we are seeing doesn't keep the banner from eventually loading. It's just a brief (1-3 sec) delay that usually happens after the first 'S' appears. I know this seems minor but it's something the customer is very worried about.

On a broadband connection it almost loaded too fast the animation payed once and was loaded by the time the rest of the page loaded. Since it only played once, you may not have noticed it.
A solution may be to put a 3 sec. delay where it holds the star pattern, then the text on the stars, then load the stripes, then spell out the name. Stretch out the time it takes from start to finish. I'd still have the bulk of it play only once. You may want one small element to keep moving. |

The stall you are seeing is caused by the rest of the page loading. As I think someone has already mentioned, add a few seconds to the first frame in the movie. This will allow the page to finish loading before the Flash animation appears to start.
The issue is compounded because your static images comprise about 55kb of file size. Try compressing your images. The page is over 75kb in size. Aim for a page that is closer to 40kb in total. This is another example of why faster loading is better. By the way, I'm using a broadband connection.
