Default dreamweaver saying css links broken

I am just doing some final checks on my website, and did a 'check for broken links sitewide' search. The results showed that every single page had a broken link to the css file, but I do not understand why since this file is where it should be and the links all work fine - the site works fine too - so why is dreamweaver saying these links are broken?!

Have you uploaded the site? If you post a link i'll have a look. Could just be a bug in Dreamweaver though.

I've had a look and your html link in your header is fine and all of your css validates. Which version of Dreamweaver are you using? Sometimes when you move stuff around Dreamweaver throws a wobbly on my MX version and does stuff similar to what yours is doing. Try dragging the css file out of the folder it's in (in the Dreamweaver explorer window) and then drag it back. It should then update itself again.

If that doesn't work then delete the link from your template (if you've used one). Then add it in again and it should do the same.

Hope this helps and cheers for the comment about my site =)

It may also be a matter of how DW is seeing the link:

<link href="styles/sms.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">

can be stated

<link rel="stylesheet" href="/sms.css" type="text/css">

basically, lose "styles" unless that is a valid directory, which I don't think that it is, it's merely a DW inserted tag ...

It is a valid directory otherwise the styles wouldnt work on the site would they? Theres nothing wrong with the code, it's just Dreamweaver. Plus it's probably not a Dreamweaver inserted bit of code, because if you look at the stylesheet then it's presented in a different way to how Dreamweaver normally does it through that wizard.

I think it's just a weird bug :S

The only files under her styles directory are two different css files.

DW does insert the code when building "new from css" but like many things with DW, it can be "outdated" or need a little hand coding to correct.

That's not to say the possibles you offered up are not exactly the cause or correct; I was just offerring up another possible "just in case" ... :)
