Hi there,
First of all, I'd like to explain that this is NOT MY LAYOUT CONCEPT. I hate it, and think it's useless. I just designed it from the front page of a brochure as per a client's request. Okay, now that I've disowned myself from the layout, here's the issue: http://216.89.218.233/dx/calendar.asp?interval=-1 The horizontal scrollbar isn't the issue (well it is, but I can't do jack all about it because the black area "has" to be that size. Don't ask.) My issue is with the vertical borders between the nested tables. They don't extend all the way to the bottom of the cells (speciically, the one for the Registration/Alex Manu "Inspires" for October 12. Is there a property I can use to get the subtable to set itself to the same size as the regular table, or do I have to apply it to the cells? Thanks.

Okay, heres is what I recommend. Put your borders to lets say, border=1. See what is happening. Is the table stretching down to the bottom? If so, check your td styles and div styles and see if that's the problem. If that's not the problem, try deleting out the styles and doing it manually through the tag instead of linking the style to the top. If that doesn't work, then reply back to this thread and I will recreat your page and see what's up.
(I'm currently working and can't redo the HTML at this time just to let you know) (Nice Design, hah) |

Okay, dude...
I figured it was better if I highlighted the behaviour. If you look at the two cells on the left, you'll see how they don't stretch ot the height of their parent cell. This is true in both IE and FF, and it doesn't matter if I type in height: 100%; or height: inherit; . You'll see it by the big white gap underneath. I've got nearly everything solved but it.

I ended up having to write a Javascript to do it (took me three tries, too.)
http://216.89.218.233/dx/calendar.asp?interval=-1 The white rectangle in the bottom left isn't my concern; that's a programming thing I'm going to solve later. The issue is the vertical borders splitting the subtables. I ended up having to use Javascript to write a CSS height property to resize the subtables in IE. (In FF, it actually worked the way it was supposed to for a change). So the question is: is there a CSS property for IE that will allow it to inherit the height of a nested table from a containing table cell?
