I am starting to design a portfolio website for myself and wanted to show some css that I am learning. Is there some script that means each time the page is loaded it canrandomly select a style sheet from a list/location specified?
what are your thoughts on this randomly picked css style, or would it be better to use the same idea as css zen-garden and have a regular css sheet that stays on the home page (benefit is it gives my page an identity that stays consistent for returning visitors), with a list of different styles I have created linked to. If so what script do I use on these links to JUST change the css sheet, but keep the url, or am I better off just going to a different url with a different css style sheet specified? Am a bit of a beginner at this but decided to get to work on a really smart portfolio and am keento learn any new tips or tricks you can suggest! |

If you want to do multiple design style sheets (and I wouldn't since that sort of thing confuses people...one for each site is enough), then do it using a server-side programming language (ASP, PHP) so that the user can pick out his/her own colour scheme from a box and submits a form and up it comes. Sort of like how Yahoo! Mail handles all those different colour schemes.
That's about the only suggestion I have in general.

I'm with ADAMWebDesign on this, don't scare your visitors by changing style randomly.
If you do want to allow them to choose to change the style used to display the site then have a look at http://www.alistapart.com/articles/bodyswitchers/ |

I would keep your site's design consistent and familiar. Let your design creations be the feature that changes.
