I am new, and learning little bit. I have learned that .bmp images cannot be uploaded to the site. I have scanned some photos and saved in my documents. They are automatically saved as .bmp images. Can they be converted into .jpg or .gif images? How? and what is the difference between them?

Any graphics program should export .bmp to .gif or .jpg - just look for "save as ..." or "export to ..." option in your "file" menu. If you don't have that, get yourself a decent graphics program.
For the difference, have a look at http://www.wfu.edu/~matthews/misc/jp.../JpgVsGif.html hth, Alex |

A quick guide for file type:
.jpg - best for photos, graphics with lots of shading and color changes. .gif- best for logos and graphics with a limited palette of colors, also supports transparency. With more experience you will find a more extensive guide for when to use each type of file, how to reduce file sizes, etc. This should get you started. |
