How do you get downloaded fonts to work from such places as AcidFonts.com?

Other than installing them (copy/paste will do) into your windows/fonts folder I'm not sure what you mean.

If you use a font face on your web site, your site visitors need to have that font face installed on their web site to see the font style you are using.

That's why it's better to stick to a common font style everyone has - Arial, Verdana, Helvetica, Tahoma, Times New Roman, Georgia...

If you *need* to have a different font, you might try "Dynamic Text Replacement" as outlined in
